World of Warcraft Console Commands

So you want to make your game look better and enhance the graphic experience?  Here are a few console commands I use when taking screenshots for the site.

Keep in mind some of these will greatly effect your frame rate the higher you turn them up.

/console groundEffectDensity 256  - Shows more foliage like grass, rocks and other ground clutter
/console groundEffectDist 260  - Controls how far the ground effects render out
/console detailDoodadAlpha 100
/console horizonfarclip 2112  - Controls how far the horizon such as mountains render out
/console farclip 1600  - Overall viewdistance
/console smallcull 0
/console characterAmbient 0
/console skycloudlod 3 - Show more or less cloud density

If for whatever reason you didnt save your previous settings, dont worry, I have the default settings right here.

/console groundEffectDensity 16
/console groundEffectDist 70
/console detailDoodadAlpha 1
/console horizonfarclip 1305
/console farclip 477
/console smallcull 0.040000
/console characterAmbient 1
/console skycloudlod 1

  2. Can these numbers be changed or are these the highest it can go?

is there any maximum number for this ?

  4. The default settings you have listed, are those the all ultra settings? Are the higher settings you have listed beyond the ultra settings? If all the settings are set on ultra, and then type in these new numbers, will the new numbers be the ultra settings (ie if I change from ultra back to ultra, will the custom settings take effect?)

  5. With those console commands you can go far beyond what Ultra defaults to however for even more powerful rigs it can tank your fps. Mess around with it though because there are a lot of options. Ground effect density and distance actually make a huge difference in fps, more than you would think.
